MapleStory has reached its 10th anniversary! To celebrate, a large patch has been released including the newly reorganized Soul Master (Dawn Warrior), two new theme dungeons, a new chat system, updated Cash Shop, and some other cool changes! On May 19 there is going to be a special conference, which is said to be the beginning of a new history for MapleStory!

MapleStory 10th Anniversary Festival
To celebrate, there are many events for the 10th anniversary! Have fun participating in them~

Let's Go! Mesorangers!
My absolute favourite of these events is the Let’s Go! Mesorangers! event, it’s actually so fun. You can get invited every 15 minutes where you will be grouped with other people to fight against the MesodizerX machine, which has gone berserk! However, to fight it, you must play a rhythm game, sort of like Dance Dance Revolution on a keyboard, haha.
You can choose your difficulty, but at first you can only access Easy. As you play and get good grades, you can unlock the others.
Let's Go Mesorangers Prizes
Based on both your difficulty and rank, you will gain a certain number of 10th Anniversary Coins and Mesoranger Boxes. You’ll also get 2 extra boxes if your team managed to win and an extra 1 if you didn’t.
Mesoranger Box Prizes
You can get the following prizes from the Mesoranger Boxes.
  • Scrolls (50% Positive Chaos Scroll, 50% Miraculous Chaos Scroll, Advanced Equipment Enhancement Scroll)
  • 10th Anniversary Coin

  • Recipe Synergy/Mastery Book Synergy
  • Mysterious Love Letter

Survival Maple Marvel
There is something called Survival! Maple Marvel! which is another multiplayer minigame, except this one is a board game! It’s sort of like Monopoly? You must befriend those monsters and take away the hearts of the other players.
Maple Marvel Prizes
Based on your rank (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) you’ll receive 3, 2, or 1 Anniversary Coin.
10th Anniversary Memorial Park
Starry needs your help to prepare the 10th anniversary party! Complete various quests by collecting items from monsters, defeating monsters, and even inviting the popular Jake of Kerning Square to perform!
Maple Tree Prizes
Every weekday at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm, you will be invited to Maple Park! If you stay for one minute, you’ll get a 10 attack and magic attack buff for 1 hour. If you stay for 5 minutes, you’ll get a 10th Anniversary Coin and a 10th Anniversary Gift Box.

Admin Balloon
In monster maps, the Admin Balloon may spawn and in towns, you can find the Giant Admin Balloon. Defeat them to receive the Operator’s Letter as well as 10th Anniversary Gift (Lucky) Boxes. The Giant one will drop much more than the regular one!

You can also buy 10th Anniversary Black weapons, Advanced Potential Scrolls, Silver/Gold Additional Potential Stamps, 50% Golden Hammers, 10% Clean Slate Scrolls, 60% Innocent Scrolls, Safety Scrolls, Protect Scrolls, and some 10th Anniversary scrolls.
10th Anniversary White Set
Speaking of which, this year there are two anniversary sets which consist of a hat, face accessory, overall, cape, pendant,  belt, and weapon. Big thanks to 기획팀 of Maple Inven for the pictures of all these items! For reference, 공격력 is attack, 마력 is magic attack, and the last line on each item is the number of slots.
One is the 10th Anniversary White set for level 10, it has the following set effects (note: the face accessory is not included in the set):
  • 4 set effect: 300 HP and MP, 5 attack and magic attack, 200 accuracy and avoid
  • 6 set effect: 10 all stats, 10 attack and magic attack
You can see the weapons here.
10th Anniversary Black Set
The 10th Anniversary Black set is for level 110, and has the same components. Note: the picture above is a bit outdated, the 10th Anniversary Black  Buckle (belt) gives 10 attack and magic attack as well. This one has the following set effects:
  • 3 set effect: 500 HP and MP, 3 attack and magic attack
  • 4 set effect: 7 all stats, 8 attack and magic attack, 300 accuracy and avoid
  • 5 set effect: 20% HP and MP, 14 attack and magic attack, 9% total damage
  • 6 set effect: 8 all stats, 20 attack and magic attack, 30% defense ignore
You can see the weapons here.
Maple Chat Information
The Maple chat system has been reorganized! When you open it, you’ll see the weekly Maple stars, one male and one female. I’ll talk about this in the next paragraph. Anyways, you can now choose one of three modes:
  • Two-person chat: talk one on one with a random person
  • Buzz chat: talk with up to 5 other random people
  • Friend chat: talk with up to 5 of your friends
Like System
Now, you can like people by entering a random chat (I don’t think this works with your friends) and clicking the heart button below them. Every week, the characters with the highest likes in each world will be showcased in the chat UI as the weekly Maple stars.
Amazing Maple Star Title
In addition, until May 20, if you are able to collect 100 likes from other users, you’ll get the Amazing Maple Star title!
Maple Chat Additional Features
There are some additional features in Maple chat.
First of all, sometimes the Maple chat NPC Irene will appear and give out topics for you to talk about. There are even cute animated emoticons available to use by clicking the smiley face beside the chat entry. You can whisper someone quickly by pressing the chat button below their avatar. Also, you can switch between five different backgrounds for your chat by using the buttons in the top left.
10th Anniversary Building (Cash) 10th Anniversary Building (event)
I don’t usually talk about Monster Life, but the patch notes made it seem important because it was ‘reorganized to be much easier to play’, so I guess I’ll talk about it.
First of all, 14 new buildings have been added, including the above two 10th anniversary ones. The one on the left can be bought using Nexon Cash and the one on the right can be acquired for free by participating in an event.
New Monsters
57 new monsters have been added as well, including Petite Mercedes and Phantom, Von Bon, and Pierre. They’re so cute~!
Monster Renaming and Extending Life
You can now rename monsters for a small Waru (in-game currency for Monster Life) fee, as well as extend the life of monsters you own (since they don’t actually die, I think this is referring to extending their potential stats duration).
Monster Life Friends
The friends list has been expanded to 100 slots and you can now go straight to a farm by entering its name.
Automatic Harvesting
You can now pay 1000 Waru to automatically harvest your buildings when they’re ready.
Also, you can complete certain quests 10 times in order to get 1 Gem (the Cash Shop currency in Monster Life).
Demon Character Creation
Until May 23, all characters except for Xenon can be created! Don’t miss your chance to play that job you’ve been waiting for~
Knights of Cygnus Creation
Soul Masters can now be created! They have received the same general changes as Striker and Wind Breaker, which you can see in this post.
Soul Master Features
Like the previous Cygnus, Soul Masters have a new play style and unique features.
Falling Moon Rising Sun
Two new buffs, Falling Moon (2nd job) and Rising Sun (3rd job), can be used to give unique stats as well as affect many of your skills. They’ll be different depending on which buff is active, both in looks and utility!
The second job skills’ Rising Sun versions cannot be used until third job.
Solunar Time
In fourth job you’ll gain access to Solunar Time, which combines the buffs of Falling Moon and Rising Sun while alternating between the different versions of all your skills. Your attacking speed will become much faster as well!
Soul Master Character Card Effects
Soul Master’s character card gives 2/3/4/5 (%?) defense.

10th Anniversary Hot Time
On April 27, there will be a Hot Time for the release of the new Soul Master. You’ll get the Intention Soul Master hat and a Character Slot Expansion Coupon!
The Soul Master Equipment Support event will run until May 30, giving free equipment at levels 10, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 50, 60, and 70 to both new and existing Soul Masters.
Experience
The experience penalty when fighting monsters below your level has been removed! Finally, high levels can train! However, fighting monsters 20 levels or more above you will still result in a penalty.
Base Evolving Dungeon Monsters
The experience for Evolving System monsters has been increased! Yay, maybe they realized the experience nerfs from a couple of patches back was too severe.
Henesys
Henesys Marketplace
Henesys Park
Henesys has been visually reworked to celebrate the 10th anniversary! I think it looks great, but  I definitely will miss the old version, just because of nostalgia, haha. They even updated the NPCs!
Crimsonwood Citadel
The forgotten continent of the Demons, Masteria. Maple warriors, go to save the imprisoned Demons in Crimsonwood Citadel! Crimsonwood Citadel is one of two new theme dungeons, this one for levels 130 or higher available through the Dimensional Mirror. It is based off of Crimsonwood Keep from GMS.
Only the last map is a party play zone. There are a lot of monsters that were added in Tespia that are missing, such as the Crimsonwood Keep bosses and Bigfoot.
Minigame - Sniping
Minigame - Climbing Walls
Minigame - Trap Pass
This place has three new minigame type quests (which are very fun, hopefully this continues in the future) including sniping (shooting down ghosts with your mouse), climbing walls (climb the walls of the Citadel while avoiding obstacles), and trap pass (pass through a map without taking damage from the falling traps).
Minar Forest Colossus Addition
A new area has been found in the Crossroads map in Leafre.
Colossus the Giant
Colossus, a rock giant, has appeared in Leafre. He has been infected by the Black Mage, save Colossus by removing the evil aura from his heart!
Colossus the Giant is a new theme dungeon for levels 150 and higher. It also includes two minigames, riding (ride down the mountain while fighting monsters, if you’ve played Castle Crashers this is pretty similar to the forest chase level) and sniping (shoot down flying bees with your mouse). There is a party play zone map here, although I’m not sure which.
Kapu Riding Halfling Expedition Badge
The boss of this area can drop two items, the permanent Kapu Riding mount as well as the permanent Halfling Expedition Badge! Finally, a permanent badge~ It gets random stats so you might have to fight multiple times before you get one that’s good for you.
Mantis Blood Mantis Poison Mantis Flora Dark Flora Hornet Poison Hornet General Hornet Tainted Tree Spirit Fallen Tree Spirit Tainted Stone Spirit Fallen Stone SpiritTarantulus
Here are the monsters you’ll find in Colossus. The last is Tarantulus, the boss! Look at the mark on its forehead, doesn’t it look familiar? Both this area and Crimsonwood Citadel are very interesting considering they both relate back to Damian, Demon’s brother and the newest commander of the Black Mage…
Using a Soul Weapon
Three new boss souls have been added for the Soul Weapon system.
Commanding Goat Attack
  • Xerxes' Soul Commando Goat Attack: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Xerxes, attacking monsters in front of you with goats.
Hot Totem Drop
  • Zakum's Soul Hot Totem Drop: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Zakum, giving monsters around you a taste of hot totems.
Flame Empress
  • Cygnus' Soul Flame Empress: Use the power of the Soul Weapon to summon Cygnus, attacking monsters around you with flames.
Arkarium Easy Mode
An easy mode has been added for Arkarium! You can enter from the existing NPC, but the entry limit is shared with Easy and Normal mode.
Mechinator Pendant
Arkarium (including Easy Mode) now drops the Mechinator Pendant, which gives 10 to all stats, 250 HP and MP, 1 attack and magic attack with 2 slots. It can be traded with the Platinum Scissors of Karma. The patch notes say it comes with increased additional options as well.
Zakum Easy Mode
An Easy Mode has been added for Zakum! You can talk to Tylus in El Nath to be teleported to Easy Zakum’s altar, and to receive free All-Cure Potions and Eyes of Fire (cannot be used for Normal Mode). Easy Mode is for levels 50 and over, solo play only, and can reward some of Normal Mode’s drops randomly.
Chaos Root Abyss Bosses
Chaos Root Abyss bosses’ clear system has been changed. They now reset every Thursday instead of daily, and if you exhaust your Death Count but your remaining party kills them, it will count as a clear for you.
Scrolling NPC Balalio
A new NPC, Balalio, allows users to use the Legendary Spirit scrolling skill for a small fee in towns~ Currently he is only expected to be available for the 10th anniversary.
Reorganized Cash Shop
The Cash Shop has been reorganized! It looks great, finally we’ll have a widescreen resolution in there, haha.
Cash Shop Grand Reopening Sale
In celebration, you can buy one of each of the above items for only 10 NX each! Free Miracle Cube, Master Miracle Cube, Miracle Circulator, and Anvil anyone?
Blood Ring
A new Cash Shop ring called the Blood Ring has been added. When worn, this ring gives you 10% bonus experience when fighting monsters. In addition, if anyone in your party also has the ring, both of you will gain an extra 5% experience!
You can see who has a ring by checking the party HP bar window.
Murmur
Murmur, the Soul Weapon NPC, has returned! He has sent out clones across Maple World that you can defeat in order to get Murmur’s Pouch.
Murmur's Pouch Rewards
You can open Murmur’s Pouch to get the following prizes.
  • Enhanced Soul Enchanter
  • Special Soul Enchanter
  • Xerxes’ Soul Piece/Zakum’s Soul Piece/Cygnus’ Soul Piece
  • Attack buff (20 attack and magic attack) 30 minutes
  • Mysterious Love Letter
